

Extra help is offered in many different varieties as well besides Professors making themselves available there are writing labs, science labs- you name it and it's there. Queens offers classes in large lecture halls, smaller more intimate classes, online classes, day classes, night classes, the variety is endless because it is a school that understands that not all students learn the same way. Or you have the option to meet with an advisor to discuss your path, an advisor who won't rush you out the door because there's a long line. Academic advisement is a breeze with an online portal to help you know what you have left so you can register on your own. All of the Professors are highly educated and love their subjects and genuinely care whether you understand the material or not. Professor's make themselves available in and out of the classroom, offering more meeting times outside of their office hours. The campus itself is a hybrid of metropolitan and suburban, with rolling lawns that look out to a gorgeous view of Manhattan. Queens College was the greatest school I attended and I don't think I could've had such an amazing experience anywhere else.

I went to a school where I couldn't get in touch with my professors outside of the classroom to ask for extra help. I went to schools where I dreaded advisement sessions because I felt my advisor wasn't listening to me or helpful at all, I was just another name on a list that they were trying to rush out the door. "I have attended a few different colleges, I didn't graduate with my Bachelors until I turned 30, and I didn't love a school until I attended CUNY Queens College. However, overall it was a great experience and I have been teaching for over 13 years now!" In the end, it would have been a perfect program if we spent even more time in the classroom. My thesis class was difficult but worthwhile because it helped me learn how to successfully conduct action research. Professors cared and nurtured my for teaching in each area. The classes were informative but I learned the most during my observation and student teaching semesters. This access to professionals in the field already was very important on my new journey. Luckily, many of my professors were teachers or principals in the field already. The most important part of my education was receiving real world experience and access to what teaching was really like. However, I soon realized I was meant to be a teacher.
