Yes, the mixing is better than on the AV but the melodic scales are still a bit more distant than on the original, im sure it can be tweaked better. Pretty damn close, certainly nowhere near as bad as the Famicom AV or the Twin. Compared here is the FLAC file of the 1st Famicom and then my NES. OK here's a second example from the Castlevania 3 intro that MaxWar was talking about. ( Btw, I hear you can change the output filter cap of the twin to make it sound less muffled ) This might be better than using your Twin as the Twin is so filtered that it can affect your perception. I suggest you can use my recording of the original famicom and use this part of the song to get the sound balance on your modded NES just the same as an original old model Famicom. The Regular Famicom however has the balance between the two just right. The Famicom AV has the extended sound mixing completely off and the melodic scales get drowned by the dominant synth from the extended audio. Open Both the Famicom AV version and the Regular (old model ) famicom version of the song I provided you and listen to the difference at 0:28s.
Personally I find the easiest way to check the sound balance between normal and extended audio to be the part at 0:28s in the Cas3 intro. But I guess the sound balance might still be off a little bit. I definitely like the second one better because i do not like the muffled sound. The first one sounds muffled compared to the other, so i will assume it is the Twin, and the second one the modded NES.
